“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
What do “These Things” represent? Whereas, they could represent many of things, but generally speaking, they represent anything that has an adverse impact on our lives.
The devil creates “These Things” to occur in our lives to hinder us and to ultimately destroy us. Just ask Adam and Eve. There was nothing that appeared to be bad about them eating the forbidden fruit. They had no idea that they were being deceived to rebel against God, which would have dire consequences.
Nevertheless, God used this unfortunate experience, also known as “The Fall” to reveal His love for mankind. God promised that He would fix the broken fellowship between Him and mankind, which was the result of Adam and Eve rebelling against Him.
This would not be an easy thing to do, because God forewarned Adam and Eve that if they rebel against Him and eat the forbidden fruit, they would separate themselves from God and the end result will be death.
The Bible teaches us that once the Word of God leaves his mouth, it does not return unto Him void. This implies that mankind would have to experience death because it was the penalty for rebelling against God.
Therefore, God had to devise a Way for mankind to be restored back to having eternal life, which was forfeited when they rebelled against God.
The doctrine of Redemption would be one of the mysteries of God that mankind had not yet been made privy of before Christ was crucified. Although it had been prophesied by the prophets thousands of years before Christ walked the earth, it had not yet been revealed how this would actually find fulfilment. That’s why when Jesus tried to explain this to Nicodemus, he didn’t fully understand it. Jesus told him in order for a person to enter into the kingdom of God, they must first be born again.
Really? Nicodemus asks the question, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
Well, this life is full of impossibilities, but with God all things are possible.
You can read the complete conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus in the Gospel of John 3:1-10.
So, we ask the question, “What shall we then say to “These Things?” It turns out that “These Things” end up being instrumental in our Salvation experience. “These Things” are allowed to occur to reveal a greater body of Truth. That’s why it can be a little confusing when “These Things” manifest themselves as trouble, broken dreams, sickness, dashed hopes or some type of failure that we experienced in our lives. They are designed to reveal that we need God’s help to overcome the many obstacles set before us by the enemy. And God designed these negative and adverse conditions to help us succeed in this life and to be restored to eternal life.
This is the crossroad where the world is at today. They refuse to acknowledge their need for God. So, all of the chaos that we are witnessing in the world today is being allowed by God with the hope that it will bring mankind to their senses. The Bible teaches that God doesn’t want anybody to be lost. Therefore, the chaos that we see in the world today, is a controlled chaos. It has a purpose.
The bottom line is mankind needs the Help of God to navigate through these perilous waters that we are treading upon. We can’t fight this “invisible enemy” alone. These times demand that we call on God to help us.
In 2020, the devil had his way with mankind. Covid-19 was surging all over the world with the death toll being in the millions. As a result of the cries and prayers of His people, God showed mercy and gave us the wisdom and knowledge to develop the vaccine. This would give mankind the tools we needed to fight this “invisible enemy” which gave us a temporary reprieve.
Did we even acknowledge God for the help He gave us? I know some of us did, but not one time did I hear any of the news networks nor any government officials giving a public acknowledgement to God, thanking Him for sending the vaccine. It didn’t have to be some type of long commentary on the goodness of God. Just a simple acknowledgement. Something like, “We thank God the vaccine helped to slow down the death rate of COVID-19.” However, nothing even remotely close to this was said.
When we learn to depend on and to look to God for all things, then He will enable us to overcome this “invisible enemy” once and for all.
However, when we fail to acknowledge God and rely upon Him, then He is forced to allow this “invisible enemy” to have his way with us, for it serves as a reminder that we need God.
And the answer to the lingering question of what shall we then say is, “If God be for us, who can be against us.”
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Revelation 12:11
It is of Great Value being on God’s side.
