There is a perfect love and an imperfect love. An example of perfect love is the love that God has towards mankind. An imperfect love is the love that mankind has toward God and to one another. This is the reason it seems like society is imploding from within. The love that mankind has in our heart is imperfect and only God can perfect it. He instructed us if we wanted to excel in all that we do, we should:
- (1) Love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy mind.
- (2) Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
The love we should have for God, ourselves and our neighbor is deficient or imperfect. This is why our world seems to be in a state of total chaos.
When Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they had no idea their seemingly innocent desire would cause all of this. Nevertheless, God said He would fix it. It would not be an easy fix, but He would fix it. What would need to be fixed? Love. There was a breach in the covenant relationship between God and mankind. This breach caused love that dwells in the heart of mankind to become imperfect. Now, the challenge for God would be to make that love perfect again. This is highlighted in I John 4:17, “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in that day of judgement.”
Our love, which was made imperfect because of Adam and Eve’s fall in the Garden of Eden, has to be restored to perfection, which finds fulfillment in Christ.
Adam and Eve’s rebellion to God can be defined as sin. Sin is described as any act (spiritual or natural) that contradicts God’s perfect will.
Thou shall not kill. Thou shall not steal. Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Thou shall not commit adultery. Thou shall not commit fornication. Thou shall not lust after a woman in thine heart.
“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Romans 1:26-27
God knew when Adam and Eve rebelled against Him that the end result would be what we see today. Wickedness, divisive men and women, blatant unbelief, waywardness, perversion, covetousness and much, much more.
The condition of the world today does not catch God by surprise. In fact Jesus said that when the time of His return comes, will He find Faith on earth? Many of your self-proclaimed Christians today have a form of godliness, but they deny the power therof.
People have become so stubborn and set in their ways that they refuse to change. They rather try to change the Word of God to fit their sinful lifestyles. But God instructs the Born-again believers to leave them alone and He will deal with them at the appointed time. “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Revelation 22:11-13
